What is free forging?
Free forging is a forging method that causes the metal between the upper and lower anvils to undergo plastic deformation under impact or pressure to obtain forgings of the desired shape, size and internal quality. In free forging, the metal billet is not restricted by the outside world except for the metal contact point between the upper and lower anvils, and can be deformed and flow freely in all other directions, so the development of deformation cannot be controlled.
Classification of free forging
Free forging generally includes manual forging, machine forging, etc., among which:
1. Manual forging
Generally, manual forging can only produce small forgings with low productivity;
2. Machine forging
Machine forging is the main method of free forging, with the advantages of high processing efficiency and good processing quality.
Advantages of free forging
Free forging can process a variety of types of forgings, such as shaft forgings, ring forgings, cylinder forgings, bent forgings, special-shaped forgings, etc., with the characteristics of simple tools, strong versatility, and short production preparation cycle. Free forging can forge forgings ranging from one kilogram to two or three hundred tons, such as turbine main shafts, crankshafts, gear forgings, large connecting rods and other free forgings that bear a large load during work and have high mechanical properties. Free forging blanks can be produced by free forging methods.
Disadvantages of free forging
The shape and gear of free forgings can be controlled by manual operation, which has the disadvantages of low precision, large machining allowance, and difficulty in production and processing. Therefore, the forging threshold is high. Quanshang has a series of modern processing equipment with high processing quality and high production efficiency.
Application
Free forging can be used for the production and processing of large forgings, the trial production of new products, and the production and repair of single-piece and small-batch forgings.
