Products produced by forging technology have higher strength, no or even no processing, and fewer defects. Therefore, it is widely used in agricultural machinery, mining machinery, oil field industry, etc. Then you may ask, since there are so many advantages, can I use forging technology to produce all metal products? Because we always encounter quality problems when producing products with casting technology, which confuses us. The answer is of course no. Now let's discuss which products can be forged?

1. Is the shape easy to part the mold?

All forging parts are pressed and formed by upper and lower dies. So when designing products, we must ensure that the shape is easy to part the mold. If the shape is symmetrical, it is best. For complex shapes, casting is better.

2. Can the material be forged and quickly formed?

The most commonly used materials for forging are alloy steel, carbon steel, and stainless steel. In contrast, stainless steel is not very suitable for forging due to its poor fluidity. However, we can forge stainless steel parts into simple shapes, and then machine them to meet the required size, such as tees, elbows, etc. But the cost will be higher.

3. In batch production, workers need to move the mold to the forging workshop and send it back to the mold workshop after production is completed. In addition, the mold cost is also higher than casting, so it is not cost-effective if the batch is small. Batch production helps to win a lower price when ordering.
