The auxiliary processes of free forging include: pre-deformation processes such as clamping, jaw pressing, shoulder cutting, etc.
1. Jaw pressing
This is a process used to change the shape of metal forgings, usually in a cold or hot state. For example, when preparing a part or component of a specific shape, it may be necessary to pre-form the metal for subsequent processing.
2. Compacting the ingot edge
After the ingot is cast, sharp or irregular edges may appear. By compacting these edges, a more uniform and neat ingot body can be obtained, which is conducive to subsequent processing operations such as forging or rolling.
3. Shoulder cutting
This is a process to remove excess metal material. For example, a part of the forging may be higher or protruding than other parts, and the excess part needs to be removed to obtain the desired shape.
